Subject: Low Interest Rates Doomed? Carbon Monoxide Winter Threat

Invisible, but Deadly Carbon Monoxide Is a Winter Threat -
Gene J. Koprowski
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says carbon monoxide poisoning kills about 200
Americans annually and sends several thousand more to the emergency room. Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless and
tasteless poisonous gas. It's produced not only by cars idling in garages, but also by appliances that burn gas or oil.
Winter, when people stay inside tightly closed houses, is the prime season for carbon monoxide poisoning, particularly if
people make the mistake of using improperly vented heating appliances or of counting on a charcoal fire or the gas range
for heat.

S-s-septic s-s-systems are feeling winter chill - KERMIT
PATTISON
Cold weather and the lack of an insulating snow layer have caused the ground to freeze deeper than
normal this winter, resulting in the epidemic of frozen septic systems. "It's very widespread," said Sara Christopherson,
an engineer with the University of Minnesota Extension Service onsite sewage treatment program. "We've talked to a lot of
contractors and the like and they say it's the worst they've seen in 30 years."

Are Today's Low Rates Doomed? - Peter G. Miller
If you have an interest in financing or refinancing an unusual window of opportunity may now be closing. Mortgage rates at
this time are as low as they've been in decades, but whether such interest levels can continue is less certain each day.

Great rooms are - well - great, but where can you be alone?
- Michael Walsh
So-called great rooms are great for bringing people together and entertaining family and
friends. But eliminating walls and doors between family rooms, dining rooms, kitchens and living rooms can also make it
almost impossible for someone craving privacy to find it. The sweeping interior vistas of homes with wide-open floor plans
and soaring ceilings are impressive. And it is all too easy to envision an entire clan assembled in one generous communal
space.

Top-Flight Basement Perfect 10: Designs Clients Love -
Wendy A. Jordan
Business is heading up for remodelers who look down - to the basement, that is. Whether
upgrading basements in old houses or completing unfinished lower levels in newer houses, remodelers are showing that,
unlikely as it might seem, underperforming basement space can be turned into stylish extensions of the living area.

Protecting Your Home From Potential Lawsuits - TERRI
CULLEN
It never ceases to amaze me how many people are willing to risk their financial security on an
assumption. Take homeowners, for example. Most blissfully presume their homeowners insurance policies provide
more-than-adequate protection in the event they are sued for negligence or injury. Unfortunately, many are wrong -- and the
price of their ignorance could be as high as losing their home.
